I used Sogou Pinyin IME for many years. It is easy to use.

Save your time, the conclusion is: Do not use Sogou Pinyin IME.

https://shurufa.sogou.com/

Here is the problem I found last month.

The blue circle with the mouse arrow is always there.  When I boot the PC, it is normal. After a while, I opened a browser or ran some programs, and the circle came.

I tried to check every spot in my Windows installation. Such as system drivers, antivirus programs, open Firefox, or Chrome. But the same results.

I knew something is running behind the screen. It is the reason for the blue circle.

I did not think about Sougo pinyin. I used it for many years, since Google Pinyin is gone.

Until I saw some news on Google News.

Vulnerability in Tencent’s Sogou Chinese Keyboard Can Leak Text Input in Real-Time
Almost Every Chinese Keyboard App Has a Security Flaw That Reveals What Users Type
So, I uninstalled the Sogou Pinyin IME. I re-enabled the Microsoft Pinyin.

The blue circle disappeared immediately. Now, it has been almost one month. I believe that the Sogou Pinyin did something behind me. I don’t like it. I know nobody likes this kind of thing. I have to post it and let everyone know it.

EaseUS has a free disk partition software. The product name is Partition Master Free. The latest version 10.8 for Windows, from XP (retired system) to Windows 10. It is also has different language version, which support English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Português, Polski and 日本語.

Actually it is made by a Chinese online software company.

I has ten Key features.

  1. Resize/Move partitions without data loss, like extending NTFS system partition without reboot to maximize PC performance.
  2. Convert FAT to NTFS file system
  3. Partition Recovery Wizard allows to recover deleted or lost partitions from unallocated space.
  4. Convert MBR to GPT disk and convert GPT to MBR disk without data loss.
  5. Support up to 8TB  GPT disk.
  6. Saftely merge two adjacent partitions into a bigger one without data loss.
  7. Copy entire hard disk to another  without Windows reinstallation.
  8. Convert primary partition to logical partition and vice versa
  9. Wipe disk or wipe partition to permanently wipe sensitive data on disk.
  10. Support all hardware RAID, removable storage device, hard disk, GPT disk and FAT/NTFS/EXT2/EXT3 file system.

I make the features I like to bolder.

Here is the simply steps of installation.

2016-01-27_123954

Goto above official web site to download the installation file.

The installation file name is epm.exe, about 28MB.

Then double click to run it.

During the installation, it may ask a few recommendation software, including PC Mechanic, EaseUS Todo Backup Free, etc.

2016-01-27_120129

2016-01-27_120159

If you don’t like them, you can uncheck the check mark or choose Custom installation. Then it will only install the Partition software.

On the very first screen of installation, it show you the difference of Free edition and Pro edition.

2016-01-27_120112

If you are interested in these additional features, you can try Pro edition.

I just wondering why EaseUS Partition Master Free Edition need to add a startup item, EaseUS EOM tray and EaseUS EPM Tray Agent,  into the system. I hate these unnecessary startup program. So I disabled it.

Here is the main screen of the program, when I run the program first time.

2016-01-27_120634

I tried some operation on my USB disk, which is NTFS file system format.

Such as Resize partition / Delete partition / Wipe partition / Create  partition.  No issue found.

If you need a free Partition software, I would like to recommend it.

I installed a CentOS 6.3 server on virtualbox. It has no windows, or GUI installed.
Now I wanted to add a GUI to my server, but I could not find easy documentation showing how to add a GUI, or Gnome in this case, to a CentOS 6 server installation.
There are a lot of results of how to do this, but things have been renamed in CentOS 6, so that made it more difficult to figure out. Also, there are “Short Names” and I am assuming they are called “Long Names” associated with a yum groupinstall, which added to my confusion.
To add Gnome/GUI to a minimal CentOS 6 install run (short name version):

yum groupinstall basic-desktop desktop-platform x11 fonts

And the “long name” version:

yum groupinstall "Desktop" "Desktop Platform" "X Window System" "Fonts"

Just put here for my own reference or if you come here for it.
One more thing. To start Windows from text mode. Enter

startx

to start it.

Microsoft has critical vulnerability in the Remote Desktop Protocol. So, the Burst.net send me the email about it, as below.

Recently, Microsoft published a security bulletin and recommended fix for a critical vulnerability in the Remote Desktop Protocol (CVE-2012-0002), which has the potential to impact all versions of Windows from XP through the most recent developer preview. This vulnerability allows for remote code execution by an unauthenticated attacker. More information is currently available at https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin/ms12-020.
Microsoft has issued a statement confirming that CVE-2012-0002 was privately reported. This problem has been given an Exploitability Index of 1, indicating that exploit code is likely. See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/cc998259 for more details.
At this time, we are highly recommending that all clients who may be impacted by this issue:
1. IMMEDIATELY apply the provided patch.
2. Enable Network Level Authentication – This will require any potential exploits to first successfully authenticate to the server before an RDP session is established.
NOTE: This RDP solution is just one of many security patches released by Microsoft this week.
Regards,
BURSTNET®

It is very important to keep your server update.
If you have a XP at home, in office, or Windows Server at data center, always setup your installation auto-update.

I have an Windows 2000 sp4 in office. I tried to update it, but always get Update error: 0xC80001FE.
I do a lot of search to find the way to fix it. You know, the security issue is the most important problem of Windows. Especially for this almost 10 years old Operation System.
OK, the good answer is I got the solution for Update error: 0xC80001FE.
Let me note it here.

0) Stop the McAfee on-access scanning, or just turn off McAfee.
1) Stop the Automatic Updates service;
2) Delete C:\WINNT\SoftwareDistribution folder;
3) Execute Microsoft Update (C:\WINNT\system32\rundll32.exe C:\WINNT\system32\muweb.dll,LaunchMUSite).
After that, the Microsoft Windows Update find 25 updates need to be installed in my Windows 2000. About 20 updates are critical issues.

Canadian Web Hosting offers two different types of VPS hosting, Linux and Windows running under Citrix Xenserver. They can choose different operating systems such as Windows 2008, Redhat, Debian, CentOS, SUSE, and Fedora.
As we know, many people use Windows desktop OS and know Windows only. So when they want to choose a VPS, they pick up Windows VPS.
Let’s look at the the service and price Canadian Web Hosting provided.
Say, VPS-Win 1000.
It has 20GB disk space, 1000GB Bandwidth. It is good enough for one or two busy forum or sites.
Two IPs. It is so good to have the individual IP. Especially for commerce site.
512M memory, 256Mhz CPU, are also OK.
For experienced Windows user, server is a little bit different. So Remote Desktop can help them manage Windows VPS server without problem. MS SQL 2008 express is included.
Firewall and Intrusion Protection are very important. I heard so many cases that site was hacked, site was hijacked. Just because the security issues.
So if you have a lot of Windows experience, and start to launch an web site, I recommend you buy this Windows VPS for $85.40/month.

For myself, I am very interested in Linux VPS hosting. I played Linux for many years.
Compare with Windows VPS, Linux system use less memory and disk space. The price is also lower. VPS Standard cost $35.95/month, if you pay it biyearly.
Monthly payment will 11% higher.
Let’s look at it closer.
20GB storage, 1000GB bandwidth, 2 IP address, are same as the Windows VPS I mentioned above.
Memory is 256MB, guaranteed. It is a little bit low, but it is ok for start. When you need more memory, you can upgrade it to VPS Pro or VPS 2000.
I like SSH. It can let me do anything on the Linux. Even reboot it.
Actually, they provide SSH2, more secure.
In a word, get your own VPS based on your needs and budget.

I have an batch file in the task schedule. It runs every night. The main purpose is to launch an IE window.
The problems bother me is when it finished loading, it is still there. So after one week, there are seven windows on the desktop. I forgot to mention, it is on one Windows server.
To make the task perfect, I do a search to find the way to close window without alert popup dialog box.

<!--
window.opener = null;
setTimeout('window.close();', 10000);
-->

To disable alert popup box.
window.opener = null;
Close window in ten seconds.
setTimeout(‘window.close();’, 10000);
This Javascript script do the job correctly.

I am planning to install coming Ubuntu 9.04 on my Netbook, Acer one.
You know, Acer One netbook does not have CD-Rom. I don’t have USB CD-Rom either. So I have to use an USB disk to do this job.
First of all, I need to know the requirement of installation.
1) Can I boot from USB?
The answer is YES. I have an USB disk with bootable Ubuntu 6.10.
2) Have a harddrive.
Yes. Netbook has a SSD drive, 8 G.
I think it is big enough to install it along.
No dual-boot needed.

3) Can I rollback to Windows?
It is also very important for me.
I will do some research later.
