It is a big issue to keep you safe on Internet. I do use Facebook, Twitter, Myspace etc. The first step after signing up in these website is take a look at Settings, or Privacy settings.
Remove every unnecessary sharing, make sure use the different password or user name.
For myself, I am not worry about the trustfulness on Facebook. But the third party, or apps providers are not 100% trustful. When I connect the app, I will look at it closely.
There is no secret on Internet. Anything you post on the web site like Facebook, may have chance to spread to everyone. If one person can see it, it is a lot of possibility that more and more people will see it.
When you post a video on the web site, any one can download it, or save it. Even you delete it from the original place. Any one has the copy of your video can re-post it. No way to stop it.
So not just on Facebook, any website, we have to very caution when we want to say something.

I read Parents Aren’t Worried About Facebook Privacy, Partly Because They Don’t Understand It
As a parent, you should know more than your kid about the privacy issues. Tell them how to protect themselves.
I don not think any kids below 13 years old can have a BBS account, Facebook account or any other social network user account. They may have email account, a blog.
Google it, you will find more related articles.

As we know, official Google blog give a post said it get attack from China. It means from China Gov.
This attack tried to access the Gmail accounts of Chinese human rights activists. I do not think it is just for these person. If they can do it to them, them may do it to you in future.
They has no limitation. No rule.
OK, to play safe. We have to try our best to protect our own property. Including emails and any visible or invisible property.
Google can let you use https to connect Gmail account.

HTTPS encryption keeps your mail secure as it travels between your web browser and Gmail servers, so someone sharing your favorite coffee shop’s public wifi can’t maliciously read it. Banks and credit card companies use this same protocol to keep your online accounts safe. To protect your Gmail account, we’ve turned on the option to “always use HTTPS” for everyone. This added layer of security can make Gmail slower, so if you don’t use unencrypted wireless connections, you can choose to disable this option in your account Settings. Even if you change this setting, Gmail will always encrypt the login page to protect your password.

It is an option, but I STRONGLY suggest you to use HTTPS connection.

To enable this feature in Gmail:
1. Sign in to Gmail.
2. Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
3. Set ‘Browser Connection’ to ‘Always use https.’
4. Click Save Changes.
5. Manually change the URL to https://mail.google.com to start accessing Gmail via HTTPS.
It can reduce the risk of your Gmail account.

I will vote this afternoon for Canada.
It is Burnaby – Douglas. Let me see the riding profile.

This is an urban riding, located east of Vancouver on the southern shore of Burrard Inlet. It contains that part of Burnaby bounded in the east, north and west by the city limits and on the south by the Kingsway.
According to the 2006 census, more than 47 per cent of this riding’s residents are immigrants. About 30 per cent are of Chinese origin.
Burnaby-Douglas has a diverse economy, which includes retail trade, manufacturing and other services. Simon Fraser University is here. Residents are well-educated – almost 30 per cent over age 25 have a university certificate or degree. The average family income is $78,973 and the unemployment rate is 6.7 per cent.
This riding was created in 1996, drawing three-quarters of its population from the old Burnaby-Kingsway riding. In 2004, it retained 85 per cent of its population and added about 7,500 people from Vancouver South-Burnaby.
Population: 112,119 (2006 census; an increase of 3.0% since 2001)

Political History
The 2006 election was a virtual repeat of 2004: New Democrat Bill Siksay defeated Liberal Bill Cunningham. In 2004, Siksay edged Cunningham when he captured just two per cent more of the vote; in 2006, the margin increased to 2.6 per cent.
For the previous 25 years, voters in Burnaby-Kingsway and Burnaby-Douglas gave their support to New Democrat Svend Robinson. However, Robinson stepped down in April 2004, citing severe stress after confessing to stealing a ring at a public jewelry sale.
Robinson’s 2000 win was no landslide: He held off the Canadian Alliance’s Alan McDonnell by fewer than 2,000 votes. In the quarter-century before Robinson, the NDP and its predecessor, the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation, carried all but two elections here.
No matter which party you vote, go to vote for Canada.

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

215px-MLK_leaning

I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.
This will be the day when all of God’s children will be able to sing with a new meaning, My country, ’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim’s pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring.
And if America is to be a great nation this must become true. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.
Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.
Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania!
Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado!
Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California!
But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia!
Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!
Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.
And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:
Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!
~Martin Luther King, Jr., August 28, 1963, Washington, DC
Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

In the new year of 2008, I am trying to redesign the blog.
The default template from Six Apart is looks boring.
Now I have not finish my design yet. If you have some idea, just leave your comment below.
Or, if you want to see something on my Blog, do not hesitate to comment it.
I have some big plan in 2008.
David Yin’s blog has following stats last month, December 2007.
9,665 UV and 14,358 PV.
I hope it can reach 90,000 UV per month in the end of 2008.
Is it too crazy? I don’t think so.
More and more traffic will be attracted from Search Engine and other related sites.

I read this post, I Struggle and Emerge: 10th Anniversary, today. Of course, I am shocked. They married in a appliance store.
An amazing thing in this era, keep a marriage for 10 years. It is a great excuse to celebrate it.
If it is only one year or two years, I may say it shamefacedly.
I would like to say, Congratulation to Kari and H.
What about us, V and me. We will also get close to the 10th Anniversary.
I think it is a good idea to see the restaurant where we had the wedding party in Shanghai. We will go to Shanghai with our two beautiful daughters, Grace and Gloria.
For marriage, where or when to get married is not important. The important thing is how long you can live together.
